MCC Golf Society 2009 FIXTURE LIST
  • 22 May 2009 - CAPTAIN'S CUPCastle Hawk (Par 55 / 3,276 yards)Intricate 18 hole course great for sharpening that short game. North East Manchester.

  • 26 June 2009 - TREASURER'S TANKARDRegents Park, Bolton (Par 70 / 6,221 yards)A challenging yet brilliant course with several holes over 400 yards. The par 3’s are very short. The course was upgraded via a £1m refurbishment in 2005. North West of Manchester.

  • 24 July 2009 - SECRETARY'S SHIELDBlackley (Par 70 / 6,217 yards)This course has changed beyond all recognition in the past few years. What once was a flat and fairly standard course now has hills and plenty of challenging holes! Of the 4 par 3’s, only one is less than 170 yards! North Manchester.

  • 25 September 2009 - AUTUMN TROPHYHeaton Park (Par 70 / 5,579 yards)Picturesque championship standard golf course in the grounds of Heaton Park. Includes spectacular views and several imposing tee shots. North Manchester.
We aim to play new courses each year and any suggestions for courses to play in 2010 are welcome.

Stableford format of scoring
Eagle (2 under par) = 4 points
Birdie (1 under par) = 3 points
Par = 2 points
Bogie (1 over par) = 1 point
Double bogie (2 over par) = 0 points

All events are currently played under the stableford format of scoring where points are awarded for net shots on each hole (i.e. after taking into account the players handicap).

For example, a player with a handicap of 18 will receive 1 shot per hole. If they take 5 shots over the hole, their net shots for the hole are 5-1 = 4 shots. If this hole were a Par 4, they would receive 2 points for a Par.
